Farming

For thousands of years farming has been an important an integral part of human culture, which has undeniably allowed humanity to flourish around the world. Today farming is still an extremely important method of supplying the worlds population with food, although many of the techniques used have changed significantly.

Advances in modern technology have allowed for various developments in farming and the equipment used for farming that has caused the level of production to be boosted significantly. Some of the developments range from the mechanised farming machinery to the chemical fertilizers and additives that can be used to promote the growth of crops.  However, although many advances in technology that have been transferred to the world of farming have allowed the global output of food to be increased significantly there are many people who are opposed to various modern farming methods.

One of the modern farming methods that is most vehemently derided is the intensive farming of animals. Battery farms have been designed to drastically increased product and profit with little regard for the welfare of the farmed animals. They are regarded by many as cruel and inhumane and as a result many people around the world have boycotted intensively farmed animal products. Recently in the UK there has been somewhat of a public backlash against battery farming with more people opting to buy free range meat and animal products, notably poultry and eggs.
